The town of Banff is famous for its spectacular setting in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and is the hub of Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Banff Outdoors Tour is perfect for those who truly appreciate natural beauty. Don’t forget your camera - you will have the opportunity for many amazing photo shots with a natural, mountainous backdrop!
Tour Highlights Include:
Sulphur Mountain Gondola - You will ride in a fully enclosed gondola to the summit where you will have a 360° view of the beautiful rugged peaks around you. Explore the many observation decks on top.
Columbia Icefields - The drive from Banff to the Columbia Icefields is rated as one of the top ten drives in the world! You'll have the opportunity to see Rocky Mountain wildlife and scenery from majestic glaciers to iridescent blue lakes. When you arrive at the Icefields, you will take an "Ice Explorer Snocoach", a specially designed vehicle for glaciers, up 2.5 kilometers of the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle. The melt water from this Icefield trickles throughout the continent and feeds three separate Oceans: the Arctic, Pacific & Atlantic! During the pause midway up the Athabasca Glacier, you'll then have the opportunity to easily and safely experience the glacier on foot- and even take a sip of this beautifully pure glacier water!
Lake Minnewanka Boat Cruise - Take a cruise through this rugged paradise richly steeped in history, native folklore and geology. Towering peaks rise vertically from the icy water's edge and on the shore amongst the forested pine and spruce, big horn sheep, deer and even the occasional bear. The highlight of the tour is the Devil's Gap; a glacial path carved through Lake Minnewanka from the foothills of the Rockies.
