We are inviting videographers, photographers, writers and media artists of all types to document a Music Day event in your area.

In the spirit of Danny's love of music and commitment to dialogue, the Foundation launched The First Annual Daniel Pearl Music Day on October 10, 2002. It was a resounding success with over 100 musical events occurring around the world in 17 different countries.  Publicity helped make Music Day a unified worldwide event with television and newspaper coverage in well over 115 cities across the United States and abroad.

We invite performances of all levels and sizes to participate.

On Oct 10, 2003 - the day that Daniel Pearl would have turned 40 - the Foundation sponsored the Second Annual Daniel Pearl Music Day, and it was celebrated with an even greater and more powerful series of music events around the world.  Tens of thousands from all over the globe joined in Harmony for Humanity concerts taking place in 29 countries on 5 continents.

Individuals and organizations of all types, ranging from small bands of amateur musicians to international music stars, from drum ensembles to the symphony orchestras of Los Angeles Chicago Atlanta & Boston, came together around the concept of a global community based on tolerance acceptance and mutual respect.

Danny recognized the power of music to bridge differences among people, and he used it to make friends and inspire understanding when words failed.

We invite you to join this special global community.
Participation is free and open to anyone who wishes to dedicate a concert to tolerance, understanding and global harmony.  This is not a fundraising event for the Daniel Pearl Foundation and we kindly ask that no unauthorized fundraising take place in the name of the Daniel Pearl Foundation.  For participation guidelines, please see the Daniel Pearl Music Day Agreement and Sample Dedications.

Through journalism and music, Danny communicated friendship, understanding and mutual respect wherever his journeys took him, whether he was interviewing ordinary people or world leaders, performing with orchestras, teaching violin to disadvantaged children, playing fiddle or mandolin with folk and bluegrass bands, or simply jamming and singing with firends and strangers.
Daniel Pearl Music Day is a global network of performances that uses the language of music to promote Harmony for Humanity.  From east to west and north to south, people on all continents and in dozens of countries will unite through music on the third annual Daniel Pearl Music Day - October 8-17, 2004 - to stand up to the hatred and intolerance that took Daniel's life.

DANIEL PEARL MUSIC DAY
HARMONY FOR HUMANITY
Volunteer to organize an event or class project.
The number of concerts in the network doubles every year thanks to the spirit and enthusiasm of musicians, music lovers and volunteers all over the world.  Tens of thousands already have joined this global community celebrating the ideals for which Daniel Pearl stood -- cross cultural understanding, mutual respect and tolerance.
If you book/own/manage a concert venue we invite you to dedicate perfomrances to Music Day.
Help spread the word by assisting with outreach in your community.
Daniel Pearl was a talented classically trained violinist fiddler and mandolin player who used his passion for music to form friendships across cultural and verbal divides.  Danny lived a life that knew no geographical boundaries, with a spirit that knew no prejudice.
Participate by dedicating an event you already have planned or by organizing a special Music Day event.
We invite you to dedicate a concert, half-time show or music class or to organize a musical event promoting tolerance by/for young people.  See more ideas and offer suggestions here.
If you have a scheduled performance, or would like to plan an event or rehearsal for any date between October 8-17, 2004, you can join us simply by adding a dedication in your program or making a declaration from the stage.
